The Ely Center is looking for a Part-Time Mental Health Counselor to join our neurodiverse-affirming practice.
We're a therapeutic clinic in Needham, MA, offering speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, and mental health counseling. Our clients bring a range of social, cognitive, and communication differences, and we're looking for a clinician who meets that range with genuine curiosity and respect.
About the Role
As a Mental Health Counselor at The Ely Center, you'll provide counseling services within our neurodiverse client base. This means building treatment plans that actually fit the person in front of you, working alongside our interdisciplinary team, and helping clients navigate relationships, transitions, and everyday life with more confidence.
What You'll Do
- Conduct assessments that center each client's strengths, challenges, and goals
- Build individualized treatment plans tailored to those goals
- Collaborate with clients, families, and our broader clinical team for coordinated care
- Support clients through social relationships, transitions, and life challenges
- Advocate for neurodiverse individuals in and beyond the clinic
- Stay current on best practices in neurodiversity-affirming mental health care
- Keep accurate, confidential client records in line with professional standards
Requirements
- Active and unrestricted professional licensure as LICSW, LMHC, or Licensed Psychologist (PhD or PsyD) in the state of Massachusetts. We're also open to pre-licensed LCSW candidates.
- Required to work in-person appointments in Needham Monday-Thursday, with flexibility to hold remote online sessions per agreement with leadership.
- MUST be willing and able to work evenings.
- Experience working with neurodiverse populations, including autism, ADHD, anxiety, and learning differences, using evidence-based practices.
- A genuine desire to work with neurodiverse clients and a commitment to evidence-based, client-centered care.
- Willingness to carry a caseload aligned with our part-time structure (we can define this together based on availability).
- Your own professional liability insurance ($1M/$3M limits).
- Organized, punctual, self-sufficient, and motivated to help grow the practice.
- Independently responsible for scheduling and documentation of your clinical encounters.
- Compliance with all ethical and professional standards required for third-party payer contracting, including documentation, treatment approaches, and mandated reporting.
- Clinicians are identified as employees and receive W-2 forms annually.
- Must have your own laptop.
Schedule
This is a part-time, flexible role built around client needs and your availability. This role requires the ability and willingness to work Mon-Thurs evenings (3-730pm). Many of our clinicians blend virtual and in-person hours, and we're flexible to add a virtual caseload any day of the week.
